Cape May, NJ (Mile 114)

Friday, June 1. A mechanic joined us at 9:30 a.m. and began troubleshooting the overheating problem. Hooray! After back flushing the heat exchanger, a wad of grass came out, and that was surely the cause of the problem. Now we can enjoy Cape May and the company of other Loopers for the rest of the weekend. I've got a cold, but I'm not planning to let that slow us down too much. If you've followed our blog, you know that I lamented earlier about having finished the Intracoastal Waterway when we arrived in Norfolk. Well, I didn't realize that New Jersey also has an inside route. Cape May is at mile 114. To get to New York, we have a choice of going the inside or the outside route. It will depend on the weather!
We had a fun day! Loopers Nan and Bob, who are from this area, picked us up at the marina and gave us a tour of Cape May.This town has been a favorite summer destination for families for two centuries. It's easy to see why. A huge number of the old Victorian houses have been lovingly maintained or restored. We ate both lunch and dinner at the famous Lobster House, which is within walking distance of the marina. Tomorrow the girls will hit some shops, which are plentiful, while the guys go to West Marine and other boat stores.. We also met several other Loopers, all staying at Utschs Marina.
We were really happy to see fellow PDQ owners, Roger and Erica Boe, who pulled into the marina this afternoon. We saw them last in Tarpon Springs, so it was good to catch up and compare various features of our boats. Maybe they can travel with our group through the next leg of the journey, which is nobody's favorite part of the Great Loop!
