New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, and the Hudson River

Friday, June 08. This was a day we’ll never forget. It was foggy as we left Atlantic Highlands, NJ. The first challenge was navigating through a maze of assorted fishing boats as we left Sandy Hook for the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. New York Harbor itself was a hubbub of ferries, party boats, freighters, charter fishing boats, tour boats, marine police boats, dredges, crab pots, and assorted buoys. All of this was accompanied by a cacophony of fog horns, buoy bells, engines, and the roar of helicopters. Believe me when I say we threaded our way through the fog with great care and steady focus. We were really happy that Seaquel was nearby.
