Hudson River

Eventually, the New York skyline gave way to smaller apartment buildings, and then we passed under the George Washington Bridge. We were on the Hudson River, with the high Palisades on the western bank. In contrast to our morning, the countryside became rural and striking in its natural beauty, even with the fog. After the amazing Tappan Zee Bridge, we passed Tarrytown, where we halfway expected to see Ichabod Crane and the Sleepy Hollow. Then we went by the town of Ossining, the location of the infamous Sing Sing Prison. By mid-afternoon we were more than ready to pull into our marina in Haverstraw, NY. There we were happy to see Roger and Erika on Tumbleweed. By now the temperatures were in the 90’s, and the pool called our names. After a refreshing swim, we were all picked up by the owner of Noel’s Irish Pub & Restaurant and his son. This amazing day ended in the fellowship of Loopers enjoying one of the best meals we’ve had so far. But that’s another story in itself.
