Drummond Island and DeTour, Michigan

Friday, August 10. We made the 4-hour run to Drummond Island, where we hung out in the water until there was room at “the wall” for check-in with U.S. Customs. A nice customs official asked us a bunch ‘o questions, then took our delicious marinated steak and fresh onions. Darn! After that we headed to DeTour Marina, still on Lake Huron. The Cowhigs and Staggs walked into town past the Passage Keeper, a statue carved from the trunk of a tree. After we ate dinner (fresh pollock) at the Mainsail Restaurant, we walked back to the boat to attempt Internet access. We didn’t have much luck; the connection was s-l-o-w! We can use the cell phone again though. Hooray!

Just a note, the temperature is in the low 80’s here, which felt hot until we heard that it is 101 degrees in Huntsville.
